Burning Bushes in Virginia

Today we all got up and prepared to go see our old friend Tootsie White.  We have really missed her and her laughter!!  We stopped at a couple of places and finally found our old street Sugar Mill!!  Could not park at her house because they are redoing the whole outside.  Now it is a real pretty light tan and also having the roof done too,  Going to be really nice when they are finished.  Took a bit to get into her house but we wrangled our way around and made it there.

She had coffee and doughnuts for us.  We sat at the famous kitchen table where I have sat many many times.  Had a great time just like nothing had happened.  We have just always been here.  But of course we haven't.  We could see our old home but it is not our home anymore. We know that it can never be again.  With Mike retired there is no way we could ever afford to have a home.  We have to remember that we have a basement apt and this motor home and that is going to be it.  I cannot tell you how much I miss having a home.  For those of you that live in a home do not know what it is to miss having windows and a front door,  I miss just being able to go to the front door and shake rugs. .  When you are so used to these simple" taken for granted" things then loose them then e you will understand how I feel.  I have also had a loss.  It seems like without a home I feel like I have lost independence.  Crazy I know but that is the way I feel.  Took me a while to get over this and even now I am not sure how I feel.

We went to Pooler today looking for some things at Camping World.  Found what we needed and more.  smile!!

Home and a nap.  Not the most productive of days.

FLIP FLOP FLOOZIE GRANDMA!!

We woke up this morning to a gray and foggy morning with mist still in the air.  It rained pretty good during the night!!  Being from Illinois and needing rain like we did this past summer and now when it is really too late rain is coming all over the place.  We took our Kerig favorite coffee cups into Sharon's kitchen and fixed coffee.  She had some blueberry muffins so we sat and talked and drank coffee.   We sat and gabbed for sometime.  Finally we knew that we had to get ourselves going again.  Back to the RV and moving it out of that nice driveway and then hooking up the jeep once again.  We all hated leaving these sweet people that opened their home to us just like they had known us for years. In some ways they did!!  Blogging does that you know.

Sharon took this picture before we left!!  Pretty good of we three Amigos!!  We got all loaded up and took off to Charleston, South Carolina.   We saw beautiful scenery again and it looks just like Georgia.  Guess we are really close now.

We arrived here around 3 this afternoon; set up and then decided to go into Charleston. We drove in and I think it was right during the going home from work traffic.  We got turned around and decided to go eat. I called this tour place and got a place to go on a tour in the morning.  That really is the best way to see this pretty city.  Hopefully pictures coming tomorrow.

We have had a restful day.  Not as much driving today for poor Mike.  He has done a great job.  We have driven around 1650 miles now!!  He is a trooper as well as Mother.  I am having a great time.  Mike is really wanting to get into work camping and I think that is a great idea too.  It would give us something to keep doing and still get to see our beautiful country!!

Not much from here today!!  Thanks to those of you that I have found me once again!!

FLIP FLOP!!

Sunday, September 30, 2012

Hello from the old FLIP FLOP FLOOZIE!!  I decided that I would try one more time to start blogging again!!  I don't know how long this is going to last but will give it one more shot!!  Smile!!

I missed my Flip Flop Floozie blog so thought I would just add my special title after my favorite name in the blogging world.  My friend Kathy gave me the first part of my title so with this new addition maybe I can write some intelligent blogs!!  Don't hold your breathe on that one at all.  Old age has not made me any wiser.  Maybe more careful but as far as wisdom goes I am still learning just like everyone else.

WE have since moved from Savannah--SIGH!!-- back to Illinois to where we moved from.  We have been moved 2 years now.  We moved from a big 2 story home to a small apartment in the basement of our younges daughter and her family.  It is very nice but something I miss is my own FRONT DOOR!!  This is something that you take for granted but that I miss.

The new news is that Mike has retired on August 31st from Lowe's.  We knew that one of these days retirement was coming but we did not know exactly when.  We both felt peaceful about it and Mike is so much happier and well so am I.  I love having him home all of the time and being able to see him just by looking and there he is!!

The next main event is we have put all we can in our motorhome plus my mother and off we have went going to where ever we can go.  Right now we are in Elgin, South Carolina.  I have had a blogging friend for years...technonana.  I called her (had never met her) and we finally got together this morning at her church Spring Valley Baptist.  We were instant friends!  I believe if every blogger should meet these special people. They would love each and every one.  Like my friend says you learn more about bloggers sometimes that you do your family!!  LOL!!

We have gone to several states now.  Mike has been driving this rig with our jeep following very obediently!!

We have been in the Blue Moutains visiting our good friends Charlie and Kathy (Lazy Dazy)
They were so welcoming and we always LOVE being with them.  We went to the mission (ETS) that they work at and also did a little bit.  Mike and Mother counted bibles and packaged them...Mother and I counted tracts.   I counted and she rubber banded them.  I was considering becoming a professiional tract counter then figured that first I was too old and really did not want another job!!  We did have a good time but we were tired for sure that night.  We had a great tour with Becki and enjoyed seeing more history.  This trip so far has been made up by history.
.

We were in Gettysburg and learned about our American History.  We have a rich heritage that so many men and women have given their lives just so that we can live here in our free country.

We have seen history, seen beautiful moutains and curvy and hilly roads.  Beautiful green trees that cover mountains, glass blowing in Stanton, Va, beautiful sunsets, met a lot of new and beautiful people but I think best of all we all really liked going to the spot where Flight 93 went down in Shanksville, Pa.  It is just an awe inspiring place.  It is so peaceful there that you feel like just being quiet and taking in the awe of the site.  Those people were fighting to the end and we were right there where it all happened.  We had camped in a bean field camp ground.  The owner said that they heard the plane go over.  It shook the whole ground.  I would think that would have been so heart breaking to them when they found out what had happened.  I recommend that if you get to Pennsylvania...GO and visit this sacred place.

Now we are off in the morning again.  This time we are headed to Charleston, South Carolina, from there we are hoping to go to Savannah and visit again!!  We truly miss our old home there.

That is it for tonight!!  It is late and I am tired!!  Time for PJ's.  Tomorrow our youngest granddaughter will be 14!!  Man how did that happen so fast!!

Good night all!!
